Virginie Viard Chanel’s debut. Her cruise collection

Recently, on May 3, the first show of fashion house Chanel, headed by the new creative director Virginie Viard, took place. It was a Chanel Cruise 2020 show. As adored, in his time, Karl Lagerfeld, the show was bright and large. The Grand Palais has been transformed into a great train station in Saint Tropez. The cruise collection was inspired by the spirit of wanderings, and the very scenery of the station complemented the style of the models and entourage.

A cruise collection is a fashion collection of clothing that covers evening and cocktail dresses, summer clothes, swimwear, as well as shoes and accessories. Often, the garment of cruise collection is made of light fabrics, usually in the summer colour range. Sometimes, it is possible to assume what can be expected in the next main collection.

Let’s return to the Chanel Cruise 2020 collection. Comfortable denim and knitwear clothing – all that a real fashionista would wear on the trip. The looks combine practicality, convenience and at the same time elegance. Virginie showed us the open summer dresses of translucent chiffon and skirts.

But during the show were presented not only summer and light clothes, but also many suits with wide trousers, trenches, knit cardigans and sweaters. All the looks were very feminine and elegant, which perfectly emphasise the beauty of the female figure.

Virginie Viard kept classical elements of Chanel style: suits and individual elements of tweed outfits, the classic logo with two C letters.

At first glance, most of the costumes of the collection look basic, but, actually, they hide many details. Unique patterns on lace, a delicate connection of colours with landscapes outside the window of a train. In general, a lot of looks in soft, pastel shades. Virginie did not miss out on Karl Lagerfeld’s favourite details of black and white dresses, bows and large collars. Without this, we can hardly imagine Karl and his collections. These looks were presented at the end of the show.

The outfits were complemented by elegant shoes on low heels and boots in the style of the ’60s. The shoes were mostly in black and white colours, according to the classic Chanel. However, it was not without bright accents of red and pink colours.

The fists of the models were decorated with wide and thin bracelets.

Without a doubt, Lagerfeld would like this collection and show, everything was in the best traditions of the Chanel fashion house, to which we have become accustomed during Karl’s longtime management.
